Laser Wire Mercury-4

Laser Wire Mercury-4

Laser Wire Mercury-4: non-contact laser wire and cable stripping machine for conductors, coaxial cables, twisted pairs and multiple insulation materials.

Laser Wire Mercury-4 — Laser Wire and Cable Stripping Machine

The Laser Wire Mercury-4 is a laser wire and cable stripping machine designed for precise, repeatable and non-contact processing of different wire and cable types. Laser technology removes insulation without mechanical contact with the conductor, reducing the risk of conductor damage and eliminating the wear associated with conventional cutting tools.

With a 50 × 50 mm processing area, the Mercury-4 supports different stripping methods, including circumferential cuts, linear slits, window stripping and ablation, as well as complex geometries using its dual-axis motion system.

Laser wire and cable stripping

The Mercury-4 uses a CO2 laser to remove insulation materials from wires and cables in a controlled process. Non-contact processing provides high-quality stripping without applying mechanical force to the conductor.

The machine can process materials including PTFE, ETFE, PVC, silicone, Kapton, polyimide, polyester, fiberglass, polyethylene and nylon. It can also remove enamel from copper wire.

Key benefits

  • Non-contact stripping, reducing the risk of conductor damage.
  • Processing of a wide range of insulation materials.
  • No mechanical blades or cutting tools subject to wear during laser processing.
  • High precision and repeatability.
  • Dual-axis motion for different stripping patterns.
  • Programming through a 7" colour touchscreen.
  • Recipe library for storing and reusing processing parameters.
  • Camera monitoring of the process.

Wire and cable types

  • Single conductors
  • Stranded wires
  • Multiconductor cables
  • Coaxial cables
  • Twisted pairs
  • Flat and ribbon cables
  • Shielded cables
  • Bonded insulation cables
  • Fiberglass-insulated wires
  • Enamelled copper wires

The manufacturer specifies applications including small-gauge single conductors, shielded cable jackets, multiconductors, flat ribbon cables, coaxial cables, shielded twisted pairs and fiberglass.

Precise, non-contact laser processing

Unlike mechanical wire stripping machines, the Mercury-4 uses a non-contact laser process. This technology allows materials and geometries to be processed without the mechanical forces associated with conventional blades.

  • Circumferential stripping
  • Linear slitting
  • Window stripping
  • Ablation
  • Custom stripping patterns
  • Curved geometries and hatched areas

The laser beam speed can reach 2032 mm/s, allowing fast processing cycles for most materials.

Programming and operation

The Mercury-4 is operated through a 7" colour touchscreen. The operator selects the required recipe from the programmed library and the stripping parameters, including length, laser power and speed, are automatically loaded.

  • 7" colour touchscreen.
  • Unlimited program memory.
  • Fast selection of processing parameters.
  • Automatic loading of recipe parameters.
  • Cycle start through the touchscreen or optional foot pedal.
  • USB interface.
  • External trigger / busy interface.
  • Camera for process monitoring.
